Union Health Minister JP Nadda Highlights Public Health Innovation at 10th National Summit in Chandigarh

Date:

CHANDIGARH – In a significant move toward strengthening India’s healthcare infrastructure, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, inaugurated the 10th National Summit on Good and Replicable Practices and Innovations in Public Health Systems. The event, held in the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, serves as a premier platform for healthcare professionals, policymakers, and administrators to exchange transformative ideas that have successfully improved patient care across various states.

Accompanying the Union Minister was the Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, signaling a strong collaborative effort between the Central government and state leadership to prioritize citizen well-being.

A Vision for a Resilient Health Future

The summit’s core objective is to identify “best practices”—healthcare models that have worked exceptionally well in specific districts or states—and create a roadmap to scale them across the entire country. During his keynote address, Minister Nadda emphasized that the future of Indian healthcare lies in inclusivity and technological integration.

The Minister praised the various states for their proactive approach in tackling public health challenges, ranging from maternal health improvements to the management of non-communicable diseases. He noted that the “Chandigarh Summit” has historically been a breeding ground for ideas that eventually turn into national policies.

Strengthening State-Center Synergy

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini spoke about Haryana’s commitment to healthcare excellence. He highlighted how state-level initiatives are being aligned with central schemes like Ayushman Bharat to provide a seamless safety net for the underprivileged. The presence of the Haryana CM underscored the importance of regional governance in the effective execution of public health mandates.

The summit showcased several key areas of innovation:

  • Digital Health Records: Streamlining patient data to ensure continuity of care.
  • Mobile Medical Units: Bringing diagnostic services to remote and hilly terrains.
  • Community Engagement: Leveraging local health workers to improve immunization and nutrition rates.

Promoting Replicable Innovations

A major highlight of the 10th edition of this summit is the focus on “Replicability.” The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has long recognized that what works in a coastal state like Kerala might need adaptation for a landlocked state like Haryana. The summit provides the analytical framework to make these adaptations possible.

Experts at the event discussed the “scaling up” of pilot projects. For instance, digital platforms that were once tested in single districts are now being expanded to cover entire states, reducing the digital divide in rural medicine. The summit also featured an exhibition where different states displayed their success stories through interactive modules and data presentations.

Conclusion: Toward a ‘Viksit Bharat’ in Health

As India marches toward its goal of becoming a developed nation, the health sector remains a primary pillar of growth. Minister JP Nadda concluded his speech by urging health administrators to remain “patient-centric” in their innovations. He stressed that while technology is a powerful tool, the human element of empathy and accessibility must remain at the heart of public health.

The three-day summit is expected to result in a comprehensive report that will guide the Ministry’s budgetary allocations and policy shifts for the upcoming fiscal year. With the combined leadership of the Union and State governments, the event marks a hopeful chapter in India’s journey toward universal health coverage.
