AMBALA, HARYANA — Delhi Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa on April 24 expressed strong confidence in the party’s prospects in the upcoming local body elections in Ambala, asserting that BJP candidates are set to secure a decisive victory based on public support and its development-oriented governance record.
Addressing the media during his visit to Ambala, Sirsa said that the BJP has already demonstrated its popularity in Haryana by forming the state government with a substantial mandate, and the same momentum is now visible in local-level elections. He stated that the party’s mayoral and councillor candidates are receiving widespread support from voters across the region.
He specifically endorsed BJP candidate Akshita Saini, expressing confidence that she will win the election by a significant margin. Sirsa added that BJP councillors are also expected to perform strongly, indicating that the party is likely to consolidate its position in municipal governance.
According to Sirsa, the BJP’s appeal lies in its consistent focus on development, governance, and public welfare, which has resonated with the people. He said that residents of Ambala are aware of the work carried out by the party at both the state and central levels, and this awareness is translating into electoral support.
He emphasised that development remains the primary concern for voters, and the BJP has positioned itself as a party that delivers tangible results. From infrastructure development to improvements in civic amenities, Sirsa said the party’s track record speaks for itself and has strengthened public trust.
At the same time, Sirsa launched a strong critique of the Indian National Congress, accusing it of engaging in what he described as “negative politics.” He alleged that the Congress is more focused on gaining power than on contributing to the nation’s progress.
He further claimed that the Congress is driven by family-centric politics, suggesting that its leadership prioritises personal and political interests over public welfare. According to Sirsa, such an approach has led to a disconnect between the party and the aspirations of the people.
Sirsa also argued that voters are increasingly rejecting what he termed as “politics of negativity,” stating that people do not want to bring instability or regressive policies into their communities. He said that the electorate is looking for stability, development, and accountability, which the BJP aims to provide.
Highlighting the importance of local elections, Sirsa noted that municipal bodies play a crucial role in grassroots governance, as they are directly responsible for addressing everyday issues such as sanitation, water supply, road maintenance, and public health. He said that electing BJP representatives will ensure better coordination with higher levels of government, leading to more efficient implementation of development projects.
