PANIPAT – Haryana BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli visited the Panipat Civil Hospital on Friday to check on the well-being of Cabinet Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, who was involved in a significant road accident earlier in the day. Speaking to the media outside the medical facility, Badoli confirmed that while the accident was severe, the Minister is out of danger and recovering from minor injuries.
The incident occurred on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road near Eldeco City as Minister Panwar’s convoy was traveling toward Sonipat following an election campaign event in Ambala.
Insights from BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli
Addressing reporters, Mohan Lal Badoli detailed the harrowing moments of the collision. He explained that the convoy was struck by a vehicle that appeared to be coming from the opposite direction or driving on the wrong side of the road, leading to a sudden and violent impact.
Badoli praised the swift response of the security team and local emergency services, which ensured the Minister received immediate care. He also noted that the deployment of the vehicle’s safety features, specifically the airbags, played a crucial role in preventing a more tragic outcome.
Sequence of the Accident
According to local police officials and the Station House Officer (SHO) of the concerned jurisdiction, the pile-up was triggered by a lead vehicle that performed a sudden emergency brake. This forced the following convoy vehicles, including the Minister’s white SUV, to react instantaneously.
The resulting collision caused significant structural damage to the front end of the Minister’s vehicle. Images from the scene show a crumpled hood and shattered glass, highlighting the intensity of the crash on the busy National Highway (NH-44).
Medical Update and Recovery
Minister Panwar was admitted to the hospital complaining of:
- General body aches and swelling.
- Discomfort in a previously operated knee.
- Pain in his wrist from the impact.
Doctors at Panipat Civil Hospital, led by Dr. Rinku Sangwan, conducted a series of diagnostic tests, including a CT scan and X-rays. Fortunately, the results showed no internal bleeding or life-threatening trauma. The Minister has been advised to rest and will likely be discharged after a short period of clinical observation.
Political Support and Solidarity
The accident has drawn messages of support from across the political spectrum in Haryana. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and Home Minister Anil Vij have all been in constant contact with the medical team and the Minister’s family.
Mohan Lal Badoli’s visit underscores the party’s unity during the busy election season. Panwar, who holds the portfolios for Development and Panchayats as well as Mines and Geology, is a key figure in the state administration and was actively campaigning for the Municipal Corporation elections before the mishap.
Road Safety Concerns on GT Road
This incident has once again brought the issue of road safety on the GT Road into the spotlight. Local authorities have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are currently searching for the driver of the vehicle that reportedly caused the obstruction.
Superintendent of Police Bhupender Singh confirmed that CCTV footage from the highway and nearby toll plazas is being analyzed to reconstruct the exact timeline of the crash and identify any negligence by other motorists.
The Haryana government continues to urge commuters to adhere to speed limits and lane discipline on high-speed corridors to prevent such life-threatening incidents.
