BJP State President mohan Lal Badoli Credits “Blessings of Maa Kali” for West Bengal Victory

Date:

PANCHKULA – In the wake of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) landslide victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP Haryana State President Mohan Lal Badoli expressed profound gratitude and pride, attributing the success to both divine intervention and strong national leadership. Speaking to reporters in Panchkula on Tuesday, Badoli hailed the win as a transformative moment in Indian politics.

“The BJP’s victory in West Bengal has come with the blessings of Maa Kali,” Badoli stated, emphasizing the cultural and spiritual resonance of the win. He further credited the “visionary leadership” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the strategic efforts of the party’s central and state units for achieving this historic mandate.

A Tectonic Shift in Bengal’s Political Landscape

The 2026 election results have stunned political observers across the country. The BJP, which had been steadily growing its footprint in the state since 2016, finally breached the bastion of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

The official figures from the Election Commission highlight the scale of this “Saffron Wave”:

  • BJP: Secured 207 seats, comfortably crossing the 148-seat majority mark.
  • TMC: Reduced to 80 seats, a significant drop from the 215 seats it held following the 2021 elections.
  • INC & Others: The remainder of the seats were split among the Indian National Congress, Left parties, and regional outfits like the Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP).

The most symbolic moment of the election was the contest in Bhabanipur, where the outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was defeated by the BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari by a margin of over 15,000 votes.

The Role of Leadership and Strategy

During his address, Mohan Lal Badoli noted that the people of West Bengal have chosen a path of development and peace. “For years, the state was gripped by a specific political culture. This mandate shows that the citizens want to join the mainstream of progress under PM Modi’s guidance,” Badoli added.

He also acknowledged the role of state leaders like Suvendu Adhikari and Sukanta Majumdar, whose relentless ground-level campaigning consolidated the anti-incumbency sentiment into a decisive vote for the BJP. The party’s focus on “Double Engine Governance”—a hallmark of its campaign—reportedly resonated with voters who felt sidelined by regional politics.

Key Factors Behind the Win

Political analysts point toward several critical factors that contributed to this outcome:

  1. Consolidation and Fragmentation: While the BJP managed to consolidate a large portion of the Hindu vote, the minority votes—traditionally a TMC stronghold—saw significant fragmentation among the TMC, Congress, and newer players like AJUP.
  2. Organization Expansion: Over the last five years, the BJP built a robust booth-level infrastructure that allowed it to compete effectively even in the most remote districts.
  3. Governance Fatigue: After 15 years of TMC rule, issues like local corruption and administrative hurdles became primary drivers for change.

National Implications

Badoli’s statement from Haryana reflects the national jubilation within the BJP. The West Bengal victory is seen as a morale booster for the party ahead of upcoming local and state elections elsewhere. The transition of power is already in motion, with the oath-taking ceremony for the new government reportedly scheduled for May 9, 2026.

As the state prepares for its first-ever BJP-led government, leaders like Badoli are optimistic that the “tremors” sent through the political landscape by this election will lead to a new era of governance in eastern India.

“Bengal has been freed from fear. Now, the state will progress hand-in-hand with the rest of the country,” Badoli concluded.
