HARYANA — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini held a significant meeting with Toshihiro Suzuki, CEO of Suzuki Motor Corporation, in New Delhi, focusing on strengthening industrial investment and cultural cooperation between Haryana and Japan.

During the meeting, Saini extended a formal invitation to Suzuki to attend the International Gita Seminar scheduled to be held on June 20, 2026, at the University of Tokyo. He said that the seminar, part of the broader Gita Jayanti Mahotsav, aims to promote deeper cultural ties and mutual understanding between Japan and Haryana.

The Chief Minister described the meeting as “meaningful and positive,” noting that discussions covered both economic and cultural collaboration. He highlighted that Toshihiro Suzuki expressed a strong interest in increasing investments in Haryana in the coming years, which reflects growing confidence in the state’s industrial policies and infrastructure.

Saini emphasised that Haryana is rapidly emerging as a preferred destination for investors, thanks to its business-friendly environment, modern infrastructure, and proactive governance. He said that the state government has been consistently working to create conditions that encourage both domestic and international investments.

According to him, such engagements with global industry leaders are important for attracting new investments, creating jobs, and boosting economic growth. He added that partnerships with companies like Suzuki can play a crucial role in strengthening the state’s industrial base.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the alignment of Haryana’s development strategy with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” initiative, which aims to promote manufacturing and make India a global production hub. He said that Haryana is playing a key role in advancing this vision by providing a supportive ecosystem for industries.

Saini noted that the state has already seen significant investments in sectors such as automobiles, manufacturing, and technology, and efforts are being made to further expand these opportunities. He said that improving infrastructure, simplifying regulations, and offering incentives are some of the steps taken to attract investors.

The meeting also underlined the importance of India-Japan relations, particularly in the areas of industry, technology, and culture. By inviting Suzuki to the Gita Seminar, the Chief Minister sought to strengthen cultural ties alongside economic cooperation.

He said that the International Gita Seminar at the University of Tokyo will serve as a platform to promote Indian philosophy and values, while also fostering closer cultural connections between the people of Japan and Haryana. Such initiatives, he added, help build long-term partnerships beyond business.

Officials stated that the growing interest of global companies in Haryana reflects the state’s consistent efforts to improve ease of doing business and infrastructure development. This includes better connectivity, industrial parks, and streamlined approval processes.

Experts believe that increased collaboration with international companies like Suzuki can lead to technology transfer, skill development, and enhanced competitiveness, benefiting both the state and the broader Indian economy.

Saini also reiterated that the government is committed to making Haryana a leading investment hub in India, where industries can grow and contribute to national development. He said that attracting global investors is essential for building a strong and self-reliant economy.

The Chief Minister concluded by expressing optimism about future collaborations and stating that such engagements will continue to strengthen both economic and cultural ties between India and Japan.

The meeting highlights Haryana’s growing importance as an investment destination, while also showcasing efforts to combine economic growth with cultural diplomacy on the global stage.
