AMBALA, HARYANA – The spirit of democracy was on full display in Ambala this Sunday as residents turned out in significant numbers for the 2026 Ambala Municipal Corporation elections. Among the early voters was Akshita Saini, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the prestigious Mayoral position.
The polling, which began at 8:00 AM across 191 polling booths, saw a peaceful and organized atmosphere. Akshita Saini arrived at her designated polling station accompanied by family members and supporters. After exercising her franchise, she proudly displayed her inked finger—a symbol of civic duty and participation in the democratic process.
A Youthful Face for Local Governance
The selection of Akshita Saini as the BJP’s mayoral candidate has been a point of interest throughout the campaign. As a young woman leader and the daughter of BJP-RSS veteran Swarn Saini, her candidacy is seen as the party’s strategic move to engage the youth and bring fresh energy to local administration.
During her campaign, Saini emphasized the “triple-engine” growth model—aligning local governance with state and central policies to ensure seamless development. Following her vote, she expressed confidence in the voters of Ambala, stating:

The Importance of Local Elections
Municipal elections are often considered the bedrock of democracy, as they deal directly with the daily lives of citizens—from sanitation and road infrastructure to street lighting and water supply. For the residents of Ambala, this election is a chance to voice their priorities for the city’s urban development and future growth.
As the city waits for the results, the image of citizens like Akshita Saini and her fellow residents standing in line to vote serves as a powerful reminder of the strength of India’s democratic foundations.
