Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh Meets Prime Minister Modi

Date:

In a significant administrative move, the Governor of Haryana, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday. The meeting, described by officials as a courtesy call, also served as a platform to discuss several key developmental initiatives for the state of Haryana.

Focusing on Innovation and Education

During the interaction, Governor Ghosh updated the Prime Minister on Haryana’s progress in emerging sectors. A primary focus of their discussion was the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Computing within the state’s educational framework. Prof. Ghosh, a renowned academician himself, has been a vocal proponent of integrating modern technology into higher education to prepare the youth for the global digital economy.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) shared images of the meeting, highlighting the cordial relationship between the Center and the Haryana Raj Bhavan. The Governor also briefed the Prime Minister on the “Digital Haryana Mission” and ongoing efforts to enhance rural development and digital literacy across the state’s districts.

Political Firestorm: Two FIRs Registered Against MP Sandeep Pathak

While administrative discussions took place in Delhi, a legal storm erupted in Punjab as the state police registered two separate First Information Reports (FIRs) against Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak. The news has sent shockwaves through the political corridors of Chandigarh and Delhi, sparking a bitter war of words between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Allegations of “Political Vendetta”

The timing of the FIRs—coming just days after Pathak defected from AAP to join the BJP—has led to intense scrutiny. Speaking to the media in Ambala, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa condemned the action, calling it a textbook case of political intimidation.

Pathak, who was once a key strategist and a trusted aide to the AAP leadership, now finds himself facing non-bailable charges across two different districts. Sources indicate that Punjab Police teams have already made attempts to reach his residences in connection with the investigations.

Reaction from the Opposition

The BJP leadership has rallied behind Pathak, accusing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of using the police force as a “political weapon” to silence dissenters. Ashwani Sharma, the Punjab BJP Working President, alleged that the state is being turned into a “police state” where truth is met with punishment.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) also weighed in, with leader Bikram Singh Majithia questioning why no investigations were initiated while Pathak was still within the AAP fold. He described the shift from “Hero to Zero” as a clear sign of selective targeting.

Implications for Regional Stability

These developments highlight two contrasting sides of the current regional climate: a push for technological and administrative progress on one hand, and a deeply fractured political environment on the other.

As Governor Ghosh returns to Chandigarh to oversee state initiatives, the legal battle surrounding Sandeep Pathak is expected to move to the courts. The outcome of these cases will likely dictate the political narrative in the lead-up to future electoral contests, as the lines between law enforcement and political rivalry continue to blur.

Observers remain watchful of how the judiciary will intervene in the coming days, especially concerning the non-bailable nature of the charges filed against the sitting Member of Parliament.
