Bengal’s New Dawn: PM Modi Guarantees Legal Reform and Social Security at Massive Jangipur Conclave

JANGIPUR, MURSHIDABAD – Addressing a sea of supporters in a crucial border district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today redefined the political narrative for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections. During a high-decibel public rally in Jangipur, the Prime Minister focused on a twin-track strategy of “Security and Equality,” promising that a new administration would prioritize the constitutional rights of legal residents while ending the “shadow of fear” that has loomed over the state’s electoral process.

The gathering, one of the largest in the region’s recent history, underscores the intensifying efforts to bring a “Double-Engine” governance model to the state.

A Mandate for Equality: The UCC Commitment

The centerpiece of the Prime Minister’s address was the formal pledge to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He argued that the preservation of Bengal’s unique cultural heritage requires a robust, unified legal system that ensures justice for every citizen, particularly women who have historically been sidelined by regressive customary laws.

“The law of the land must be the same for everyone,” the Prime Minister asserted. He noted that the UCC is not just a legal necessity but a moral one, aimed at dismantling the “politics of selective preference” that has allegedly fragmented the social fabric of Bengal. By establishing a common civil framework, the proposed reform seeks to protect the dignity of all citizens and ensure that no individual is exploited under the guise of tradition or political convenience.

Strengthening the Frontiers: Border Integrity and Safety

Addressing the long-standing concerns of the border population in Murshidabad, PM Modi took a firm stand on national security. He promised a comprehensive overhaul of border management to curb illegal infiltration and cattle smuggling, which he claimed have drained the state’s resources and compromised the safety of local communities.

  • Technological Surveillance: The Prime Minister announced plans for an advanced “Smart Fence” system equipped with AI-driven monitoring to prevent illegal crossings.
  • Protecting Local Rights: He emphasized that the resources, jobs, and land of Bengal belong exclusively to its legal inhabitants, promising that a “zero-tolerance” policy would be enacted against administrative corruption that facilitates illegal documentation.

Economic Upliftment: The ₹3,000 Empowerment Drive

Turning his attention to the economic hardships faced by rural households, the Prime Minister highlighted a series of direct-benefit interventions designed to bypass middlemen and local “syndicates.”

  • Women’s Financial Independence: Highlighting the flagship promise of the new roadmap, he discussed the transfer of ₹3,000 per month to women, ensuring they have the capital to manage their homes and small businesses with dignity.
  • Youth Employment Stipend: To support the aspirations of the state’s educated youth, a monthly stipend of ₹3,000 was proposed for graduates, assisting them during the critical period of job hunting and competitive exam preparation.
  • Reviving the Silk and Jute Belt: PM Modi pledged a special industrial package to modernize the traditional looms of Murshidabad and the jute mills of the state, aiming to create local employment and prevent the forced migration of workers to other parts of the country.

A Call for “Real Change”

The Prime Minister concluded his speech with a direct appeal to the youth and the mothers of Bengal, urging them to lead the charge for “Ashol Poriborton” (Real Change). He lamented that the state, which was once the industrial powerhouse of India, has fallen behind in critical sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, and IT due to “misgovernance and extortion.”

“Nature has given Bengal every blessing—talented people, fertile soil, and a rich history. All that is missing is an honest government,” he remarked. As the election phases on April 23 and 29 draw closer, the Jangipur rally has firmly placed the spotlight on a future defined by national integration, social security, and an uncompromising stance on public safety.
